Hillsboro Historical Society
Hillsboro Historical Society is a not for profit organization whose missions include acquisition and preservation of significant historic sites within the community, protection of manuscripts and photographs of historic importance, and education of the public regarding Hillsboro’s heritage. We are currently trying to buy and ultimately preserve the old Sierra County Courthouse and Jail site. Other projects supported by our board include publishing a photographic history of Hillsboro, mapping the Hillsboro Cemetery, provide speakers and other programs relating to Hillsboro area history, and dispersal of a quarterly newsletter. We meet on the first Tuesday of the months of February, May, August, and November at the Hillsboro Community Center, and we invite interested community members to attend.
